The Supreme Court ruled (7-2) that employers can choose not to provide birth control if they have moral or religious reasons to do so.
The ruling came in the wake of continual expansions to the Affordable Care Act. In 2017, Trump stated that he would be trying to do away with the requirement under law for employers to provide birth control through their insurance plans. Two cases that went to the Supreme Court resulted in Trump’s announcement coming true.
Another ruling expanding conservative ideology, in wake of two rulings recently that expanded liberal ideology, was the freedom for a religious institution to discriminate in it’s hiring and firing.
Two teachers who had sued a religious school lost the battle, and this is what the Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito stated;
“When a school with a religious mission entrusts a teacher with the responsibility of educating and forming students in the faith, judicial intervention into disputes between the school and the teacher threatens the school’s independence in a way that the First Amendment does not allow.”
What do you think about these two rulings?
Let me know in the comments below. I read them all.
